Her research investigates the effects of religion on legislative policymaking. Professor Oldmixon’s work has appeared in Social Science Quarterly, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Research Quarterly, Foreign Policy Analysis, Politics and Religion, The Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, and Terrorism and Political Violence, and she is author of Uncompromising Positions: God, Sex, and the U.S. House of Representatives  (Georgetown University Press, 2005).  Professor Oldmixon was an APSA Congressional Fellow (2001-2002) and winner of the 2007 Paul J. Weber Award, with William Hudson. She has chaired the APSA Religion and Politics section and serves on the editorial board for the journal Politics and Religion.
