Let's start with some background information. The Commonwealth Online has compiled a brief but nifty review of major events in British history, aspects of its culture and economy, geography, politics, and more. There is no charge for this service.

Britain was among the first nations to get on the web in a serious way. Most government departments are on the net, and parties and groups can be found there as well. Here are some places that you may find useful.

The Monarchy

There are numerous Monarchy pages. I like Dave's Royal Page. From here you can find the rest, I'm sure.

Of course, Britain has no written Constitution, but that doesn't mean it has none at all.
An introduction to it is available at the British Information Services site. You will have to hunt just a little, but check out the page in general. It is very informative, its supposed to be!

Government Sources

The first place to look is the CCTA. It is the official starting point for accessing Her Majesty's Government.

Another good source is The BBC can tell you who are the people in Her Majesty's Government, and those who want to be.

Its easy to vote in the U.K. Just ask Steve and Caroline

Political Parties

Not all the Political Parties have a net presence yet, but all the big ones do.

The Labour Party was the first.
The Conservatives have a nice board.
The Liberal Democrats got on early, too

And here are some others:
The Scottish Nationalist Party
Plaid Cymru
The Ulster Unionist Party

For an nice overview of British Elections since the Second World War, check with the BBC.

David Boothroyd keeps up on British Politics as well as or better than anyone. He has an election statistics page that it really useful. Or try hisBritish Elections and Politics Homepage (with David Taube at the University of London.) Its nice.
