Germany has a large number of political resources on the net. Some bad news for
English-only types: not all are in english. Sorry. I have included a variety of sources, regardless of language. Viel spass am net.
A good place to start learning about Germany is the German Information Service. Its the official source of info about Germany, at least for beginners. You will find up to date information about German politics and society, as well as links to government agencies. And this is in English!

Bavaria is the most distinctive Land in Germany. It has its own Bayern link.
The Christian Democratic Union, led by Helmut Kohl, is currently the major partner in the governing coalition.
The Free Democrats have a very liberal page (at least in the European sense of liberal).
The political left is dominated by the Sozialdemocratische Partei Deutschlands, the SPD. Its a nice page.
The Greens seem to have no central page. This is totally in keeping with their decentralization ethos. There are Land pages, for exampleThe Tuebingen Bundnis90/Gruene Page.
How about the German Natural Law Party? Its only in German, but its natural...
