Professor Emile Sahliyeh, Todd Spinks, and Brian Calfano (PhD 2007). “The Status of Democracy and Human Rights in the Middle East: Does Regime Type Make a difference?” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Democratization.

Professor Idean Salehyan's "Fighting at Home, Fighting Abroad: How Civil Wars Lead to International Disputes." (with Kristian Skrede Gleditsch and Kenneth A Schultz) was accepted for publication in the Journal of Conflict Resolution.

Professor James Meernik's monograph, United States Foreign Policy and Regime Instability was accepted for publication by the U.S. Army War College.

Awards

Eddie Meaders was given the 2007 Community Service Award by Legal Aid of Northwest Texas for his "tireless participation in legal clinics for the Denton County community".

PSCI Advisory Board member Lisa Uhlir's efforts on behalf of Operation Care resulted in 22,000 pounds of needed clothing, agricultural and construction materials for Afghan refugees in the Bagram area!

 

Grants

Professors Mason, Salehyan and Meernik were awarded $30,000 by the Harold C. Simmons Foundation to fund graduate student scholarships.
