Acceptances

Anne Etienne's (PhD student) "Do Election Results Represent People's Political Ideologies? A Study of the French 2002 Presidential Elections" has been accepted for publication in French Politics.

Prof. Ko Maeda's  "Library Catalogues and the Organization of Knowledge: A Quasi-Empirical Test of a Conjecture about Learning in Hierarchies" (co-authored with Thomas H. Hammond, Kyle I. Jen) has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Theoretical Politics.

Prof. Idean Salehyan's "Does Border Enforcement Deter Undocumented Migration?: The Case of Mexican Migration to the United States."  was accepted for publication in Regulation and Governance. (with Wayne Cornelius).

Awards & Nominations

Karis Durant, Political Science major, has been named a UNT Truman Scholarship Nominee for the 2007 round of competition.

Professor Kimi King is this year's UNT nominee for the statewide Minnie Piper Stevens Award.

Prof. Elizabeth Oldmixon is the winner of the 2007 Paul J. Weber Award for the best paper in the religion and politics section delivered at the 2006 APSA, "When Church Teachings and Republican Ideology Collide: The Perspectives of Catholic Republicans in the House of Representatives,” with William Hudson. Presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association, Philadelphia, PA, August 31-September 2, 2006.

 
Grants

Prof. Idean Salehyan and Prof. Mathieu Turgeon were both recipients of $5000 UNT Research Initiation Grants.

Prof. John Booth and Prof. James Meernik were awarded a $17,900 grant from the Hispanic and Global Studies Initiative.

Appearances

Prof. Idean Salehyan presented "No Shelter Here: Rebel Sanctuaries and International Conflict." Presented at the Peace Science Society conference in Columbus, Ohio.

Thorin Wright and  Prof. Michael Greig  presented "Stay the Course? A Competing Risks Analysis of the Sustainability and Termination of Peacekeeping Operations" at the Peace Science Society conference in Columbus, Ohio.
